In the past 150 years as many as 2000 Oklahoma hamlets, villages, towns, and cities have bloomed and then died. In this book, ghost towns are: 1) Communities no longer in existence, having been destroyed, deserted, or covered with water; 2) Those in which buildings or houses are still standing, but unused, and; 3) Those large communities in which the population has decreased at least 80%. Towns such as Keokuk Falls, Sacred Heart, Piney, Bromide, Cromwell, Earlsboro, and more.
